Bryston BP19 Preamplifier available for demonstration at Fanthorpes HiFi

Announced in summer 2023 the Bryston BP-19 is the latest preamplifier from the Canadian manufacturer, marking a significant milestone, the Bryston BP19 introduces the BP-2 moving-magnet phono stage circuitry as an integrated option for the first time.

According to Bryston, the BP-2 phono boasts remarkable precision, exceptionally low noise, minimal distortion, and generous headroom margins to prevent overload from any conventional phono source. Vinyl enthusiasts with turntables featuring moving-coil cartridges can also find compatibility through Bryston's specially crafted external step-up transformers, designed to accommodate the lower output of moving-coil designs.

In terms of inputs, the BP-19 features two pairs of balanced XLRs and four pairs of RCAs, maintaining an all-analog design. While benefiting from design advancements achieved during the development of its higher-tier counterpart, the BP-20 preamplifier, the BP-19 differs by excluding digital connections such as DAC, AES/EBU, optical, coaxial, and USB, as well as streaming transport. Each of the six analog inputs on the BP-19 comes with a corresponding button on the front panel, and users can easily switch between them using the supplied infrared remote.

On the output side, the BP-19 offers two pairs of RCA outputs (one fixed, one variable) and two pairs of balanced XLR outputs (one fixed, one variable), maintaining a fully balanced design from input to output.

In pursuit of musicality, Bryston emphasizes key features such as an oversized toroidal power transformer, an advanced volume attenuator, and the use of only the finest hand-selected premium components. The distortion level is claimed to be extremely low, with a THD+N measurement at or below 0.0006 percent.

Manufactured in Canada and backed by Bryston's 20-year warranty, the BP-19 stands out for its versatility as a preamplifier. It is available in five standard faceplate finishes, in 17- or 19-inch widths, and offers customization options including different colors and 19-inch rack mounts for professional applications.
